Flipd is the middle school ministry of First Friends Church in Canton, Ohio. Here you’ll find our thoughts about the book “New Neighbor: An Invitation to Join Beloved Community” by Leroy Barber that we’re reading in preparation for our 8th grade missions trip to our hometown this summer (2009).
A time that suprised me like matt fowler in the example was when I went to the refuge of hope and this man wanted to pray. He was a man who probably didnt didnt have a house. When he prayed he thanked God for giving him another day to live. He doesnt have a house and all he prayed for was the thanks he had for getting another day to be alive. If it was me I would be so uncontent withoutn a house that that would be the only thing I would pray for. Yet he is thankful for the little he had. You would think that he would be mad at God for not giving him a house. But yet he was thankful to be alive. This is something I myself take for granted. I get upset when its too cold in the winter at my house. But that guys house during the winter is the cold.
Our neighbors are the people that we share the earth with. The thing that stuck out to me was that the people that we see with all those homeless qualities we think that they sound wierd if they talk about God. That its like hearing an animal speak english. But they can be very nice if you talk to them and be a neighbor to them.
